Laura George, Nominating

Laura joined the Junior League of Long Beach in 2018, looking for something meaningful outside of her role as “mom”. She found exactly that in JLLB – a vibrant community of like-minded women, a chance to give back, and an opportunity to grow personally and professionally.
Since joining, Laura has embraced a variety of placements across the League, taking on both committee roles and leadership positions. She’s served as a chair and contributed to ad hoc committees, gaining a well-rounded view of JLLB’s impact and operations. Laura is especially proud of her contributions to helping the Self Esteem Committee launch the first annual Prom Prep Party, now one of the League’s signature events. This special day offers underserved high school girls the opportunity to “shop” for a prom dress, learn beauty tips, and be pampered. Seeing the joy on the girl’s faces makes all the hard work worth it!
Passionate about giving back, Laura often brought her daughter along to League events, showing by example what it means to serve. With her daughter heading off to college this fall, Laura felt the time was right to step into a board role. She’s excited to serve as this year’s Nominating Chair and help shape the future of JLLB leadership.
Outside of the League, Laura is a foodie who loves trying local restaurants or a new taco stand, and she is a passionate world traveler who loves to explore far and wide.
