Current Placement(s) in the JLLB? LUNAFEST, Chair

What year did you join the JLLB? How many years is that?

I joined the league in 2018, so I am finishing up my third active year.

Where did you go to school and what degrees do you hold?

I attended Ohio University and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Journalism Strategic Communication with a Political Science Minor.

What do you do outside the League as a job? Tell us all your jobs both professional and other places you volunteer.
I work at the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as an Administrative Services and Corporate Events Manager. In my role pre-pandemic, I supported our CEO as well as managed our corporate events however that has changed during COVID times. I continue to support our CEO and have also taken on some fun new projects including managing our employee wellness initiative, virtual webinars and employee training platform. Another silver lining of the pandemic is that I am able to volunteer for my high school’s Speech and Debate team. I grew-up in Toledo, Ohio and am typically unable to do this because of distance. I have very much enjoyed judging tournaments and volunteering my time with the students this year!

Which city did you grow up in and how’d you end up in Long Beach?
As I mentioned previously, I grew up in a suburb of Toledo in northwest Ohio.  My husband and I moved to Long Beach from Columbus, Ohio a little over four years ago and actually moved the week after we got married! We relocated for a job opportunity my husband had and haven’t looked back since. We now consider ourselves Californians and love the life we have built in Long Beach.

Why did you join the JLLB?
I joined JLLB to give back and connect with my community in Long Beach. I love the JLLB community and am so grateful it found me.

What do you enjoy about membership in the JLLB?
I enjoy and treasure the friendships, relationships and truly just amazing women I have met through the league. I am so inspired by our active and sustaining members!

What are your hobbies / what do you like to do for fun?
I love to spin and practice yoga!  Pre-pandemic you could always find me at the Hanger either at GritCycle or RA Yoga however now I spend my days practicing yoga in my office (outside on the patio if it is nice out) or spinning on my Peloton! I also love to hike and explore our beautiful city!

Unique fun fact about you?
Most of my California friends don’t know this about me, but I competed and ranked nationally for Speech and Debate in duo interp when I was in high school. I even considered majoring in theatre in college because of it!
