Lisa joined the Junior League of Long Beach in the Fall of 2018. Her current placement is on the Website Management Committee.

She holds an Associate’s of Liberal Arts from West Los Angeles College and a Bachelor’s of English from Mount Saint Mary’s University. She finished her college education a little later in life, graduating with her Bachelor’s when she turned 40.

She works at Epson America – they are the North American sales company for the Japanese parent company Seiko Epson. She’s an Assistant Manager for Retail Channel Marketing which means she supports marketing for their printers, projectors, and scanners at some key retail accounts – both online and in the store. She loves what she does and she works with some really great people at Epson, including another JLLB member! Prior to graduating college and Epson, she worked in the video game industry in a few different capacities – game producer, product development and operations. She still plays on her Xbox once in a while!

She was born and raised in Southern California, and she grew up mostly in the South Bay – Hawthorne, Torrance, and Redondo Beach. She moved to Long Beach about 15 years ago when a friend of hers moved there and kept showing her what a great city it is. She loves the diversity and how there are so many unique neighborhood vibes.

She joined the Junior League when she found herself focusing a bit too much on work and not much else, and realized she needed to find an outlet to get involved with this great city. She has always appreciated the fact that Long Beach has a lot of different community-based organizations, but she didn’t really know where to focus. She heard about a JLLB New Member Mixer and thought it would be interesting to at least check it out and find out more. She loved the JLLB mission and after speaking to a few members, thought it might be the right opportunity to learn, serve the community and make some connections with other women who were looking to do the same.

She loves the positivity, the focus to give back to our community, the opportunities to be involved in so many different ways, and truly the connections and friendships she’s developed.

Her hobbies include gardening and traveling. When she moved to her current home, she was able to create a garden in the backyard and has spent the past 5 years learning by trial and error how to be an urban farmer. She also likes to experiment cooking different cuisines and she’s a bit of a sucker for historical cookbooks. She loves to travel and she gets a little edgy if she doesn’t get out of town for an adventure every 3 months or so.

An interesting fact about her is that she learned to snowboard at the age of 40. The first day she tried it, she probably fell down about a hundred times and was so sore she had to have her friend drive them home. But she could see how fun it was once she learned and kept at it. For the next 6 years or so, she spent a lot of time every winter on the slopes and got pretty good – even managed a black diamond slope in Mammoth once! Work and life got in the way a bit, but she’s looking forward to getting back out there. Maybe she’ll learn to ski next!
