The Junior League of Long Beach (JLLB) proudly announces Danita Humphrey as the 2025 Helen D. Newcomb Award recipient. The JLLB is a local women’s leadership organization dedicated to promoting volunteerism and community action.

The prestigious award is given annually to a Junior League member who exemplifies the organization’s mission and serves as a role model through her leadership, service, and dedication to community impact. Established in 1995, the award honors the legacy of Helen D. Newcomb, the founder and first president of the JLLB.

Danita, a 22-year member of the Junior League of Long Beach, has held numerous leadership positions in the organization, including President. She continues to serve as an advisor, bringing her wisdom and mentorship to newer generations of League members. “We never know what challenges someone is dealing with when our paths cross. I believe in treating others with dignity and respect,” says Danita Humphrey.

Danita’s impact extends far beyond the League. She is actively involved on the boards of several influential community organizations, including the American Red Cross – Greater Long Beach & South Bay Chapter (Executive Committee), The Nonprofit Partnership, Young Horizons Child Development Centers, and the Long Beach Public Library Foundation.

The JLLB is proud to celebrate Danita’s passion and tireless commitment to developing women leaders and building a more inclusive, compassionate Long Beach.
